The following Terms and Conditions apply to all bookings made on the website www.mirrorlodge.com, or through other booking channels which are directly linked to this domain, such as e-mail.
Please read them carefully as they outline the respective rights and obligations regarding your booking and your stay in the lodge.
References to “you”, “your”, “customer” and “guest” in these terms mean all persons on the booking. “We”, “us”, “our” and “Mirror Lodge” refers to the legal owner of the lodge.
The rental registration number of the property is HG-00016971.
1.1 A booking is considered to have been made when a customer has placed a booking online or through email conversation and completed the payment.
1.2 The full payment is required for the booking to be confirmed.
1.3 We reserve the right to cancel a booking due to unforeseeable circumstances.
1.4 Upon booking, the customer has confirmed that they have read and accepted the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
1.5 If special requests are specified in the booking, Mirror Lodge will aim to do the necessary arrangements. It cannot be guaranteed that in all cases it will be possible to comply with customers’ special requests.
1.6 Bookings must be made by a person older than 18 years.
2.1 The earliest possible arrival at the lodge is 16:00. Checkout is until 12:00 on the day of departure.
2.2 The lodge is suitable for 2 adults, or one adult and one child. The lodge is not suitable for two adults and a child/children, due to its size. We will hold you accountable if the maximum number of guests is not respected.
2.2.1 No pets are allowed on the premises or in the lodge.
2.3 The lodge is not serviced, and there is no breakfast provided. You have access to a fully equipped kitchen and basic supplies (oil, salt & pepper, sugar, coffee & tea, cereals, pasta, and rice).
2.4 It is the responsibility of the customer to arrive at the lodge on the date specified in the confirmation email. There will be no refund for “no-shows” or a discontinued stay. We recommend personal travel insurance and can provide you with the necessary documents to get reimbursed by your insurance.
2.5 Customers are responsible for their own health and safety whilst staying at the lodge. Minors staying at the lodge must be accompanied by their legal guardian, who is responsible for their actions and well-being.
2.6 There will be a manual provided for each booking. This manual explains how to use the facilities of the lodge, and guests are required to read it carefully and comply with the regulations.
2.7 If you cause damage to the property, we will hold you responsible immediately after your stay. This also applies to the theft of items in the lodge.
2.8 Smoking in the lodge and on the terrace is strictly prohibited. Should we discover evidence of smoking or vaping, we will charge a penalty fee of 50,000 ISK.
2.9 For security reasons, the lodge has outdoor video surveillance, which is directed at the driveway.
3.1 Mirror Lodge may cancel a booking against a refund of the fare, without payment of damages, if our contractual obligations to you are affected by “Force Majeure”.
For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, force majeure means any event beyond our control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Most frequently force majeure in Iceland would include natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, or simply weather conditions that make it impossible to travel safely to the accommodation. It can also include road closures by authorities, unavoidable technical problems, and all similar events outside our control.
3.2 When canceling a booking according to Article 3.1. the customer is entitled to a refund of the fare within 14 days of cancellation.
3.3 If a booking is canceled by you, cancellation is only permitted against payment of a cancellation fee in accordance with Articles 3.4 due to our costs, inconvenience, and loss of income due to the cancellation.
3.4 When canceling a booking, the following cancellation fee will be charged, unless otherwise stated in the promotional material or in special terms with the customer:
a) If a booking is canceled 30 days before the arrival date or more, you will receive a full refund minus the processing fees of our payment provider (see paragraph 4)
b) If a booking is canceled 29 to 14 days before the arrival date, 75% of the fare is refundable, minus the processing fee.
c) If a booking is canceled 13 to 7 days before the arrival date, 50% of the fare is refundable, minus the processing fee.
d) If a booking is canceled less than 7 days before the arrival date, the customer will not receive a refund.
3.5 The customer must cancel the booking in a verifiable manner. If customers exercise their right of cancellation in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, a refund shall be made within 14 days of the cancellation.
3.6 Mirror Lodge is not responsible for a discrepancy in the refunded amount which is due to changes in the currency exchange rate. All payments are received and refunded in ISK.
3.7 If the hot tub cannot be used due to force majeure (e.g. bad weather, storm…), the customer is not entitled to any refund. The same applies if the skylight is covered with ice or snow or if it is raining. Weather permitting we ensure the window is clear prior to each guest’s arrival, but later snowfall/rain may block the view again.
4.1 A non-refundable processing fee applies to changes and cancellations:
a) The processing fee is 1,9% of the total amount for cards issued inside the EU/EEA
b) The processing fee is 2,9% of the total amount for cards issued outside the EU/EEA.
4.2 Your credit card provider may charge you service fees for international payments. These fees are set and charged by your bank or credit card provider. Mirror Lodge, Braintree, or their banks do not charge these fees.
Mirror Lodge does not take liability for any loss, damage, accident, injury, or illness during the stay in the lodge. This also applies to incidents related to weather, strikes, or other unforeseeable events beyond the control of Mirror Lodge. Excluded from this are incidents attributable to gross negligence and which are regulated under Icelandic law.
These Terms and Conditions and any agreement to which they apply are governed in all respects by Icelandic law.
